Amanda Bynes Confined To Mental Facility

Amanda Bynes could be confined to a mental health facility for up to a year, based on a ruling that was just handed down by a judge TMZ has reported.

Doctors at the facility where Amanda has been held asked for a long-term hold, and they got it.  Sources tell us the doctors then transferred control of the hold to Amanda's mother, who is currently the temporary conservator.

Sources tell us ... it's unlikely Amanda will be held for a year.  In fact, we're told the plan is to keep her in a facility for 60 days to stabilize her and then transfer Amanda to her mom's home.

As for where Amanda is going, we're told she is right now en route to the UCLA Medical Center for the long-term hold.

A photo agency sold TMZ a picture of a woman they claimed was Amanda leaving a Thousand Oaks facility in a blue wig.  The lawyer for Amanda's mother, Tamar Arminak, tells TMZ the agency's representations were false, and it was not Amanda leaving the facility for UCLA.

Ted Nugent's Wife, Shemane, Arrested for a Gun in the Airport

A love of guns runs in the family, apparently.
The wife of singer Ted Nugent was arrested at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport on Thursday after TSA agents discovered a handgun in her carry on bag at a security checkpoint.
Shemane Nugent was taken into custody, airport spokesman David Magana told the Dallas Morning News, and “The rest of it is working its way through our system of legal approval.”

Nugent’s lawyer, David Finn, called the incident an “honest mistake.”

“She is very embarrassed. She’s never been in this situation before,” Finn told the Morning News. “She has expressed remorse for any inconvenience for any public safety officials.”
Ted Nugent is a board member for the National Rifle Association and has often spoken on Fox News about his opposition to gun control measures proposed by President Obama.

Shemane has appeared in home videos shot by her husband firing a variety of weaponry.
“Last week my wife Shemane and I were filming a segment for our Spirit of the Wild show and we were shooting at watermelons surrounded by human silhouette targets just as kind of a competition and from 20 feet and from 20 yards and we were shooting from every imaginable angle, under cover, from sitting, from squatting, from prone position, from behind cover and from in the open, and we never hit an innocent and we never missed the watermelon,” Nugent told Glenn Beck in an interview in 2012.
A police report of Thursday’s arrest is expected to be released Friday morning.

Texas Boy, 4, runs over 16-month-old sister

A Westminster, Texas, family is "hurting" after their 4-year-old son managed to set the family's pickup truck in motion, rolling over and killing his 16-month-old sister, their pastor said.
The family was loading up their pickup before heading to a relative's house on Sunday at 1 p.m. when the 4-year-old grabbed the keys to the truck, climbed inside and started the engine, according to a statement from the Collin County Sheriff's Office.
The boy then shifted the truck into neutral, causing the vehicle to roll forward, the sheriff's office said. The children's father heard the car start and ran outside to investigate, but he was too late.
The vehicle struck the little girl then rolled into their neighbor's fence, according to the sheriff's office. She died instantly from the impact. The name of the family wasn't provided by police.
Tom Ogden, pastor of the church the family attends in McKinney, Texas, drove to the family's home after getting news of the accident. Ogden, who has known the family for 15 years, had been with them in church about one hour before the accident.
"I told them for a fact this wasn't an act of God or an act of the devil, it was pure and simply an accident that happened," he said. "For the weeks and months to come, it's going to be a long healing process."
Ogden said the boy understands what happened on Sunday, and that he would be going into counseling. "He's got a healing process in front of him also. He's going to miss his little sister," he said.
Ogden said the whole family was banding together to deal with loss of their youngest member.
"When something happens to one of them, it happens to all of them, because they are a very, very close-knit family," he said. "She was the baby."
"The dad and the brother, they still can't understand how that can happen so quickly," Juan Verde, the victim's uncle, told ABC Dallas affiliate WFAA-TV. "We don't have too many tragedies in our family, and this is one of them."
The Collin County Sheriff's Office said the investigation into the accident is ongoing.

McDonald's Wings

Watch out KFC and Popeyes because McDonald's wings are entering the world of fast food so competition will be heating up.

The food giant plans to begin rolling out the "Mighty Wings" on Sept. 9 and have them in all U.S. stores by Sept. 24, according to Bloomberg. The bone-in chicken wings are expected to stay in stores through November.
The wings will be flavored with chili pepper and cayenne, Bloomberg reports, and will come with a variety of sauces. They will be sold in packs of three, five or 10 pieces with prices starting at $2.99.
So that's that. Feel free to go back to talking about the McRib.

'N SYNC Reunion

The much-hyped ‘N SYNC reunion at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards turned out to be more of a cameo by the boy band, who essentially just supported Justin Timberlake in his Video Vanguard Award and performance … and it turns out, Timberlake’s bandmates (Lance Bass, J.C. Chasez, Joey Fatone, and Chris Kirkpatrick) were thrilled for the ‘Mirrors’ singer, but they were less than thrilled at how the show turned out.
“They were pushing for more,” an insider dished to Us Weekly. “While Timberlake was thrilled they could come for him, he didn't want the reunion to be the whole thing. They originally were told that it was going to be more of their old hits, not just "Bye Bye Bye", but then Justin reworked it.”

You know who else was pushing for more? Hungry ‘N SYNC fans who expected more than merely two out of 15 minutes of Timberlake’s performance to be with his four brothers.
Still, the source said that the band as a whole were stoked to be part of the event, gushing, “They loved being all back together. It felt like the old days!”

The only member who didn't gush about the ‘N SYNC reunion was, well, Timberlake, but he did express his gratitude for his bros in his acceptance speech. ”I'm taking this home. Half of the Moonmen I've won, I've won with those four guys right there.  We can keep it at my house, but I’m gonna share this award with them.”
Here’s hoping they haven't said "Bye Bye Bye" for good, because fans want more, more, more!

Bail Set For Teens In Veteran Beating Case

Bail was set at $3 million Tuesday for a 16-year-old boy who is charged with killing a World War II veteran in Spokane, WA.  Kenan Adams-Kinard contends the man was beaten to death because he shorted the teen and another boy on a sale of crack cocaine.
The allegation was sharply rebutted by friends of Delbert Belton, the 88-year-old veteran known as "Shorty."
"Shorty never did no drugs," said Ted Denison, a friend who added that the defendants were "smearing his name."
The drug-dealing claim is in a letter police found after they arrested Kenan Adams-Kinard early Monday morning, Spokane County Deputy Prosecutor Larry Haskell said during Tuesday's court hearing.
Haskell said the letter contends that Adams-Kinard and Demetrius L. Glenn, 16, were buying crack cocaine from Belton when the attack occurred Aug. 21. That notion was scoffed at by family members and friends of Belton, who was known as Shorty because he was little more than 5 feet tall.
Haskell did not return several telephone calls seeking additional information on the drug-dealing claim.
Both teens are charged with first-degree murder and first-degree robbery. The charges carry a potential life sentence.
Police said Belton, who was wounded in the Battle of Okinawa, was beaten in his vehicle as he waited for a friend in the parking lot of an Eagles Lodge in north Spokane. Officers found Belton with serious head injuries, and his wallet had been taken. He died in the hospital Thursday.
The teens will be tried as adults, and Spokane County District Judge Debra Hayes on Tuesday ordered Adams-Kinard moved from a juvenile jail to the Spokane County Jail.
A lower bail of $2 million had been set for Glenn on Monday, but Hayes said Adams-Kinard is more of a flight risk if he's released. The judge noted that Glenn turned himself in Thursday night, while Adams-Kinard hid out for days before he was arrested.
The Associated Press does not generally identify minors accused of a crime but has named the teens because of the severity of the charges.  Both of the 16-year-olds have criminal records.
Court records show that in 2011, Glenn, and people he was with, surrounded and confronted another teenager in a park because they saw a black bandana on the ground, which they took as an act of disrespect. Glenn was convicted of assault, riot, and obstruction after attacking the person with a stick or bat studded with nails. He was placed on probation and later agreed to pay restitution.
Earlier this year, Glenn had two run-ins with law enforcement. On Feb. 9, he was charged with malicious mischief after damaging a garage door, and on March 18, he was arrested and charged with driving without a license.
Adams-Kinard was also arrested earlier this year after snatching a cellphone from a girl on a city bus. The girl suffered scratches on her hand, and Adams-Kinard pleaded guilty to theft and assault.
Belton was born and raised in Spokane. He survived being shot in the leg in 1945 at Okinawa, one of the fiercest battles of the war, and went on to spend 33 years working for Kaiser Aluminum before retiring in 1982.

Selena a Little Jealous??

Selena Gomez mimicked MTV Video Music Awards performer Miley Cyrus at the premiere of her new action movie, Getaway, in Westwood, Calif. on Monday, Aug. 26. The 21-year-old "Come & Get It" singer stuck her tongue out to the side while posing on the red carpet. Makes you wonder if maybe Selena is a little jealous of  all of the attention that Miley is receiving.

Gomez playfully copied fellow former Disney star Cyrus' new favorite tongue move while smiling for photographers. After joking around, the actress blew kisses while showing off her stylish black floral Vera Wang dress, Jimmy Choo heels and Lorraine Schwartz jewelry.

Cyrus, 20, bared her tongue (and half-naked body) while performing her hit "We Can't Stop" and a duet with Robin Thicke of "Blurred Lines" on stage at the MTV VMAs on Sunday, Aug. 25. Though the act was highly controversial for its sexually explicit costumes and dance moves, Gomez told Us Weekly she was a fan of it. "It was great!", the Wizards of Waverly Place star told Us at her premiere Monday. "She worked it!" (Cyrus watched the show from the audience beside BFF Taylor Swift, who was caught on camera apparently slamming ex-boyfriend Harry Styles. She also took home the award for Best Pop Video for "Come & Get It."

While Cyrus lets loose on stage, Gomez is focused on ditching her Disney image in more subtle fashion than Cyrus, perhaps... on the big screen. She stars alongside Ethan Hawke and Jon Voight in the Courtney Solomon-direction action film Getaway, in theaters Friday, Aug. 30.

"I wanted to play something that was really different," she told reporters Monday of taking on the role of "The Kid." "I feel like it's too easy to me to take on a role that could be the same role that I've played for years. I want to be something that's completely different and she was such a badass and I was attracted to that. She knew a lot about technology and cars and I thought that was so cool, so I was super stoked to take on this role.

Paula Deen Dropped From Cooking Expo Ads

Paula Deen is headlining a giant food expo in Houston next month, but you wouldn't know it because two huge ticket sellers are REFUSING to put her name or her picture in the advertising, as reported by TMZ.

The event is the Metro Cooking and Entertainment Show.  Paula was supposed to be the main attraction, but sources connected with the expo tell us, Groupon and Livingsocial are actively trying to distance themselves from anything Deen-related.

Instead, the companies are featuring much lesser known chefs on their ads such as Terry French and Martie Duncan, causing ticket sales to take a huge hit.

A rep for the expo reports, "It's more difficult, not having those tools [Paula and her sons] to help sell tickets, but we are fighting for Paula."

Paula has been with the expo for 8 years, and the rep says tickets sold much more quickly when the chef was featured on the advertisements, but not this year and there's nothing Metro can do about it (except on its own website).

FYI, the expo will be Paula's first public appearance since she settled the racial discrimination lawsuit filed against her in Georgia.

Reps for Livingsocial and Groupon had no comment.

NRA Gun Owner Database???

NRA built a database of gun owners while opposing national gun registry.

The National Rifle Association has frightened Americans about the prospect of a federal registry of firearm owners, but the NRA itself has secretly created a database with information from tens of millions of Americans who do not hold a membership.
The NRA has spent years secretly collecting information about gun owners from state and local offices and has built the country’s largest privately held database of current, former, and prospective gun owners, according to a BuzzFeed report.
News of the NRA’s database is particularly surprising, since the pro-gun agency heavily protested the idea of a federal gun registry after the Newtown massacre led to debates on increased background checks. Even though 91 percent of Americans supported universal background checks, lawmakers were unable to push such an initiative through Congress. At the time, the NRA’s Wayne LaPierre instilled a widespread fear that universal background checks would lead to a national registry of gun owners, which critics said could lead to taxes on guns or confiscation.
“That’s what [the feds] are after, the names of good, decent people all over this country, who happen to own firearms to go into a federal database or universal registration, every lawful gun owner in America,” LaPierre said in a speech at the Conservative Political Action Conference. “That’s their answer to criminal violence… are they insane?”
But that’s exactly what the NRA has been doing for years. The organization’s database includes personal information from people who have attended gun-safety classes taught by NRA-certified instructors or gun shows. The NRA also collected gun permit information from state and county offices, as well as the names of gun magazine subscribers.

Three million Americans are members of the NRA, but the database has information from tens of millions of people, NRA lobbyist Richard Feldman told BuzzFeed. NRA officials refused to share an exact number or go into the detail about their data-collection methods, but documents obtained by BuzzFeed indicate that the NRA may have bribed state officials into turning over their lists.
In 2009, a firm called Preferred Communications asked the Virginia State Police to purchase the names of concealed carry permit holders “on behalf of the National Rifle Association.”
“Can you please let me know if you offer 2008 and/or 2009 names?” the group’s representative wrote in a message. “Can you please let me know the address to send the check to and also whom to make it payable to?”
Officials in Arkansas, Oregon and Iowa also reported requests for such lists.
The NRA’s database gives the organization the ability to contact tens of millions of gun-owners to lobby their causes.
The data “gives the NRA more power,” Jon Bond, co-founder of the ad firm Kirschenbaum Partners, told BuzzFeed, noting that the NRA has an advantage over anti-gun groups. “It’s valuable politically because what it does is, it extends the reach of its political leverage beyond NRA members. They have gun owners, not just NRA members. There’s multiple purposes for it.”
With a national gun database containing names and addresses, the NRA has the power to target certain markets and influence Americans to support them. But even if the NRA only uses its database for marketing or advertising purposes, their secret creation of a registry they long stood up against might prove difficult to defend.

David Cassidy In Trouble With The Law

One time heartthrob and former "Partridge Family" star, David Cassidy, is in trouble with the law again.
ABC News reports that the singer-actor, 63, was arrested just after midnight on Aug. 21 in upstate New York. Schodack police say that Cassidy was cited for a DWI and for failing to dim his headlights.
Cassidy was taken to the Rensslaer County Jail, where he was later released on a $2,500 bond. He is slated to return to town court on Sept. 4.

A rep for Cassidy couldn't be reached for comment, but this is not the first time the "I Think I Love You" crooner has been in trouble with the law. In 2010, Cassidy was busted for a DWI and an open container law violation. He pleaded no contest and was sentenced to a six-month license suspension and one year of probation.

Bald Eagle to be Removed from Pennsylvania's Threatened List

Scarcely a day goes by without a bald eagle soaring within view of visitors at the Hawk Mountain Raptor Sanctuary.

For biologist Laurie Goodrich, the majestic birds' presence signals Pennsylvania is nearing a milestone in their recovery from near extinction.
"Definitely, this species has recovered very well," said Goodrich, who is in charge of monitoring migratory bird species at the Berks County conservation center.

Decimated by water pollution, extermination by farmers and the effects of the once ubiquitous pesticide DDT, there were only three mating pairs of bald eagles in Pennsylvania when the state Game Commission began its restoration effort 30 years ago.
Now, 266 pairs of bald eagles nest in Pennsylvania. Those birds, with pristine white heads and expansive wingspans, are mating successfully in 56 counties across the state including Northampton and Schuylkill.
And observations from year to year show the bald eagle population is soaring. Last year, researchers documented 237 nesting pairs statewide.

In September, the commission will consider a proposal to remove the bald eagle from the state's threatened species list, allowing state wildlife officials to ease their monitoring and enforcement of bald eagle protection.
"We're not going to be abandoning bald eagles. It's just going to be a little lower priority for us," game commission biologist Doug Gross said.
The bald eagle would remain a protected species, shielded from human harassment by three federal laws — the Bald and Golden Eagle Protection Act, the Migratory Bird Treaty Act, and the Lacey Act. Those who harm or disturb eagles are subject to penalties of up to one year in prison and fines ranging from $5,000 to $250,000.
Responsibility for investigating threats to bald eagles in Pennsylvania would fall to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife service, Gross said.
Part of the decision to remove the bald eagle from the threatened species list is to ensure the list provides an accurate account of the animal species in the state that require special protection, Gross said.
"We consider very carefully what animals we put on the list," he said.
The change would also free Game Commission resources to step up monitoring of other threatened and endangered species in Pennsylvania.
"We'd like to learn more about where they are, and that takes dedicated attention," Gross said.

The bald eagle, however, has become a relatively common sight for Pennsylvanians. There have been sightings in Bethlehem, Allentown, Pittsburgh, and elsewhere.
Eagles have also nested at PPL Corp.'s Martin's Creek Preserve, with nine sighted during a bird count last winter, according to the company's conservation blog.
A pair of bald eagles nesting near a bike path along the Allegheny River created a buzz in Pittsburgh this summer, Gross said.

Jenna announced her pregnancy on air in March, and called the experience “surreal” in a TODAY.com blog post. Since then, Jenna’s been writing all throughout her pregnancy at her TODAY Moms blog, Jenna's (Baby) Food for Thought.

“Stephanie’s extremely adventurous, she’s been all over the world; you know me, there’s not a building I haven't jumped off of,” Wolfe said on TODAY in March. “So for us, this is nothing like any of that. This is the adventure of a lifetime.”

Congratulations to Jenna and Stephanie!

Wilmer and Demi Back Together?

If the rumors are true, Wilmer Valderrama and Demi Lovato are back together again. While they've both been pretty secretive about it, he apparently couldn't let the occasion of her 21st birthday pass without some sort of public acknowledgment.

On Tuesday, Aug. 20, Valderrama tweeted:
I've been so proud of the strength & commitment you've gained 4 life, keep inspiring us all! Happy birthday my @ddlovato! With & by u always

The replies from other Twitter users were quick to point out that he'd called her “my Demi” when posting. (Apparently they even have their own celebrity couple mashup name: Dilmer.)

Wilmer, 33, and Demi have been on and off since first hooking up in 2010, not long after her split from Joe Jonas. In the years since, Valderrama has been publicly linked to Minka Kelly, while Lovato was reportedly seeing One Direction’s Niall Horan. Back in February of this year, sources said the off-again couple was very much on-again.
That same month, the ‘X Factor’ judge did an interview in which she spoke philosophically about romance.
“I am in a place where I can finally trust and love and be a better person for the man who I am in a relationship with, instead of being a clingy girlfriend or getting jealous,” she told Cosmo on Campus (quotes via MTV). “It is very unhealthy when girls devote all of their time to a guy and forget their friends and family. I did that. I was always looking for distractions because I was so afraid of being alone.”

FRED Star is Gay???

Lucas Cruikshank, the viral video star who played the ultra-hyper "Fred" character in a Nickelodeon movie and several shows, has revealed he's gay.  Naturally, he posted his coming out video on YouTube.

The 19-year-old actor made the announcement during a short clip with his friend Jennifer Veal, who starred in the Disney Channel show, "Jessie".
During the video, Lucas says his closest friends and family members have known about his sexuality for years, but he never felt the need to make an announcement to the world. At one point, Lucas turns to Jennifer and asks, "How come you didn't have to make a video saying you're straight?"

Lucas shot to superstardom by creating several YouTube videos featuring his annoying "Fred" character, who had a crush on a girl named Judy.  For some odd reason, they never hooked up. Hmmmm

The Famous Jett Jackson Star Found Dead

Lee Thompson Young Commits Suicide

Lee Thompson Young, who you may remember as the lead in Disney’s "The Famous Jett Jackson", has died as the result of suicide. He was only 29.
Sources told TMZ that the actor was found inside his home with what cops believe to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
After starring on the Disney show, Young moved on to parts in ‘Friday Night Lights,’ ‘Flash Forward,’ ‘Scrubs’ and ‘Smallville.’ He was currently acting on the TNT crime-drama ‘Rizzoli & Isles.’

Cast and crew became worried when Young did not show up for work this morning, August 20,2013.  They called his landlord to check in on the situation.  When Young’s landlord showed up to see if the actor was all right, he discovered Young’s body inside.
A rep for Young released the following statement, confirming his client’s suicide: “It is with great sadness that I announce that Lee Thompson Young tragically took his own life this morning.  Lee was more than just a brilliant young actor, he was a wonderful and gentle soul who will be truly missed.”

Nude Photos of Demi Lovato??

Alleged Nude Photos of Demi Lovato

Demi Lovato is having a bad week. Seems someone supposedly has a couple dozen nude photos of her for sale, and that person has already shown and offered them to Radar Online.
According to Radar, an unnamed individual emailed roughly 20 shots of a naked woman who’s supposedly Lovato.
“These are Demi. The collection I have show some nude, including face, some including parts of the body Demi is known for such as tattoos, butt, chin. Then, I have pictures of her getting rowdy,” the person wrote. “I can guarantee you these photos are legitimately of Demi.”
Radar has been unable to confirm this, but does claim the tats match, including the 12 blackbirds, the ‘X Factor’ judge had inked on her right forearm late last year, and adds the shots “show a dark-haired woman who looks identical to Lovato in a raft of compromising positions, including nude in a bathtub and lying topless in bed, among other poses.”

No word on how the pics were obtained, but during the time when a hacker circulated naked shots of stars like Scarlett Johansson and Mila Kunis in 2011, Demi’s name was mentioned as one of the 50 or so female celebs whose personal photos might have been illegally accessed.
In good news for Lovato, Radar says it’s chosen not to publish the pics, but if another outlet takes the bait, Simon Cowell may not be the only ‘X Factor’ panelist dealing with a scandal!

"The Calling" Singer Abducted

Alex Band Abduction

Alex Band, lead singer of the rock band "The Calling", was abducted this weekend while taking a stroll down a street in Michigan.  He was beaten severely and then dumped on nearby train tracks.  The police are investigating.

Sources close to Alex stated that the singer was in Lapeer, MI for a music festival and decided to walk from his hotel to a nearby mini-mart around 4am Sunday morning.

It has been reported that during the stroll, a van pulled up alongside Alex and the people inside snatched the singer right off the street, then proceeded to beat the crap out of him.

Eventually, sources say, the abductors dumped the badly beaten rocker on some nearby train tracks.

Another member of the band noticed 32-year-old Alex had gone missing later that morning and assembled a search party. The singer was discovered a short time later.  Alex survived the incident, but his current condition is unclear.

Law enforcement wouldn't confirm the specific details, but did state that an incident report has been filed, and officials are currently investigating.

The Calling was huge back in 2001, when they released that song "Wherever You Will Go", but broke up soon after. It is rumored that the band had just recently reunited.
