27-year-old Krystine Rivera was out for a run when she was knocked cold by a deer.

She might run like a deer, but she's no match for one.
A Virginia woman was on the final leg of a 7-mile-run near her home in Ashburn when an airborne deer reportedly knocked her unconscious Thursday about 6 p.m.
Krystine Rivera, 27, was a sitting duck when an SUV struck the buck and, in a stroke of bad luck, sent him flying toward the young athlete beside Claiborne Parkway. She remembers running one moment and coming to in an ambulance the next, the Washington Post reported.
The collision with the SUV killed the deer — and the deer struck Krystine Rivera, 27, who is lucky to have survived.

"I was running, then I was on the ground and then was listening to the paramedic. I'm surprised I made it out alive," Rivera said to the paper.
The massive mammal cut the 5-foot-tall athlete's run short at five miles, slashed her scalp, bruised her right knee and gave her a concussion.
Rivera, an administrative analyst, started running roughly five years ago, participates in marathons and leads runs for a local fitness club.
27-year-old Krystine Rivera is amazed she survived the hit from a massive flying deer.

27-year-old Krystine Rivera is amazed she survived the hit from a massive flying deer.

She thought a run after a stressful day at work might cheer her up.
While Rivera was on the ground, a passerby called 911 and used Rivera's cellphone to contact her family and boyfriend, according to the Washington Post.
Rivera and the 71-year-old driver were both treated at Inova Loudoun Hospital and released, the sheriff's office said.
The deer died on the spot.
She is no stranger to that route and runs it regularly. She intends to run it again.

Newlyweds Elytte And Miranda Barbour Killed A Man For Fun, Pennsylvania Police Say

SUNBURY, Pa. (AP) — Newlyweds, just three weeks removed from their wedding day, lured a Pennsylvania man to his death with a Craigslist ad because they wanted to kill someone together, police said.
Elytte Barbour told officers before his arrest Friday night that he and his wife, Miranda, had planned to kill before, but their plans never worked out until last month when Troy LaFerrara responded to an online posting that promised companionship in return for money.
Elytte Barbour, 22, and Miranda Barbour, 18, both face criminal homicide charges in LaFerrara's death.
His body was found Nov. 12, 2013, in an alley in Sunbury, a small city about 65 miles East of State College, PA. The couple recently moved to nearby Selinsgrove from North Carolina.
According to Sunbury police, Elytte Barbour told investigators he hid in the backseat of the couple's SUV as his wife picked up LaFerrara at a mall on Nov. 11. He told police that, on his wife's signal, he wrapped a cord around LaFerrara's neck, restraining him while Miranda Barbour stabbed him.
Miranda Barbour, 18, told police in Pennsylvania that she lured Troy LaFerrara, 42, to this parking lot at the Susquehanna Valley Mall before their fatal encounter.
The 42-year-old Port Trevorton man was stabbed 20 times, police said.
Miranda Barbour was charged Wednesday. She initially denied knowing LaFerrara, but her story evolved as investigators gathered evidence, including the discovery that the last call received by the victim's cellphone was made from her number, according to a police affidavit.
The affidavit said Miranda Barbour acknowledged meeting the victim in Selinsgrove then driving with him to Sunbury, where they parked. She said LaFerrara groped her and she took a knife from between the front seats and stabbed him after he put his hand around her throat, according to the affidavit.
Police said Miranda Barbour had told them she purchased cleaning supplies at a department store after stabbing LaFerrara, then picked up her husband and took him to a strip club for his birthday. On Friday, police said Elytte Barbour told them it was he that had purchased the cleaning products, an account investigators said was backed up by surveillance footage.
Following his wife's arrest, Elytte Barbour told The Daily Item of Sunbury his wife, whom he married on Oct. 22, regularly hired herself out as a "companion" to men she met on various websites, a business venture he said he supported because it did not involve sexual contact.
Barbour said his wife made anywhere from $50 to $850 for meeting with men for such activities as having dinner or walking around a mall. The ads she placed on websites including Craigslist all said upfront that sex was not part of the deal, he said.
"She is not a prostitute," he said. "What she does is meet men who have broken marriages or have no one in their lives and she meets with them and has delightful conversation."
Elytte Barbour did not have an attorney at his arraignment Friday night. A phone message left for his wife's public defender early Saturday was not immediately returned.
Sunbury police Chief Steve Mazzeo told The Daily Item that investigators will also be looking into the death of a man with whom Miranda Barbour had a 1-year-old child. He would not elaborate.

Paul Walker ~ Man arrested for theft of Porsche parts

An 18-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly stealing a part from the Porsche involved in the crash that killed “Fast and the Furious” star Paul Walker, authorities reported.
The Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department says Tujunga resident Jameson Witty took the roof panel from the charred Porsche Carrera GT as it was being towed away Saturday from the crash site.
The flat-bed tow truck left the Valencia crash site at around 10 p.m. and was being followed by several vehicles as it headed east on Newhall Ranch Road, officials said. Police believe Witty and another man exited one of those vehicles when the tow truck stopped at a red light, pulled off the Porsche’s red T-top roof panel and drove off.
The tow truck driver reported the alleged theft to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

Deputies were able to identify Witty as the suspect and arrested him Thursday morning at his home.
The stolen panel was later recovered when detectives served a search warrant at a Canyon Country home.
It was unclear if the suspects stole the panel to sell or to keep as a memento.

Officials say they've tracked down a second suspect, an unidentified 25-year-old man outside California who was making arrangements to turn himself in.
Witty and the second suspect will likely be charged with felony grand theft and tampering with evidence, the LASD reported. Witty’s bail was set at $20,000 and he’s due in court Monday.
The crash investigation is ongoing.
Witnesses say the crash happened minutes after Walker left a fundraising event, held by his charity Reach Out Worldwide for super-typhoon Haiyan victims, at around 3:30 p.m. Saturday in Valencia. The 40-year-old star was riding in the passenger seat of friend Roger Rodas’ Porsche.
Moments later the car had slammed into light pole and burst into flames, killing both Walker and Rodas. Authorities say speed was a factor in the crash.
Authorities urged anyone with information about the theft of the vehicle parts to call detectives at (661) 255-1121. Anonymous tips can be given at (800) 222-TIPS (8477), by texting the letters TIPLA plus your tip to CRIMES (274637), or at lacrimestoppers.org.

Paul Walker Dies at 40: 'Fast and Furious' star killed in fiery car crash

Santa Clarita, California - Actor Paul Walker, who shot to fame as star of the high-octane street racing franchise "Fast & Furious," died Saturday in a car crash in Southern California. He was 40.
Walker's publicist Ame van Iden confirmed his death, but said she could not elaborate beyond statements posted on Walker's official Twitter and Facebook accounts.
Walker was a passenger in a friend's 2005 Porsche Carrera GT and both were attending a charity event for his organization, Reach Out Worldwide, in the community of Valencia in Santa Clarita, about 30 miles north of Hollywood.
The website for the charity said the Saturday event was intended to benefit victims of Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines.
Speed was a factor in the crash, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Office said.
The wreck took place about 3:30 p.m. (6:30 p.m. ET), about 300 yards from the office park where the event was held. The speed limit there is 45 mph.
Up and down the road near the crash site were burned rubber and doughnut marks as though someone smoked their tires in figure 8 patterns.
"I don't know if the marks in the road are related to the crash," said Los Angeles County sheriff's Sgt. Brian Allen.
Deputies arrived at the scene to find a vehicle on fire, he said
Once fire crews put the flames out, they found two occupants, both of whom were pronounced dead at the scene.
Saturday evening, all that remained was the burnt mangled metal of the red car and a light pole that had been knocked down.
The county coroner said that, given the condition of the bodies, it will take some time to definitively identify them.

Box office success
Walker's career began on the small screen, first with a commercial for Pampers when he was 2, and then with parts in shows such as "Highway to Heaven" and "Touched By An Angel."
His first few movie roles were as supporting characters in teen flicks, most notably in "Varsity Blues."
His career really took off when he was cast as undercover cop Brian O'Conner infiltrating a street-racing gang in 2001's "The Fast and the Furious."
The box-office success of the surprise summer hit yielded numerous sequels. And along with Vin Diesel, Walker was one of the franchise stalwarts.
At the time of his death, he was working on the seventh film of the franchise, due out next year.
Walker wasn't just a car enthusiast on the silver screen, off-screen, the actor competed in the "Redline Time Attack" racing series.
On his verified Twitter account, Walker described himself as "outdoorsman, ocean addict, adrenaline junkie ... and I do some acting on the side."
Walker also is the star of "Hours," an independent film scheduled to be released December 13 about a father struggling to keep his newborn infant alive in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans.
Twitter and other social media exploded with reactions to Walker's death.
"Completely numb and saddened to hear of the tragic death of Paul Walker," wrote one.
Hollywood condolences came from Will Smith, Jack Osbourne, DMX and others.
"No, @RealPaulWalker. No. No. No," tweeted actress Alyssa Milano. Walker guest-appeared with her in the 80s comedy, "Who's The Boss?" "Rest with the angels. You. Sweet boy. #beauty #love #RIP."
He is survived by his 15-year-old daughter, Meadow.

Facebook Christmas Tree App Virus ~~ FALSE

Facebook Christmas Tree App Virus

Claims:   A Facebook Christmas tree app harbors a virus that will crash your computer.
FALSE

Example:   [Collected via e-mail, November 2010]
Just saw on facebook the following:

WARNING!!!!!!.....If you are using the Christmas tree app. please be advised it will crash your computer. Geek squad says its one of the WORST trojan viruses there is and it is spreading quickly. Re-post and let your friends know!

Origins:   This warning about a Facebook "Christmas tree app" that supposedly harbors a trojan virus has been making the rounds of the Internet every holiday season since at least 2010 and follows a pattern found in several common computer virus hoax messages
(such as the Invitation warning): it identifies a supposedly highly destructive virus which is currently being widely circulated, and it asserts credibility by invoking the name of some authority who has allegedly certified the referenced virus as the "worst" ever.

True to that pattern, this warning is also a hoax: a search of Facebook reveals numerous applications with names related to Christmas trees, none of which has generated any noteworthy number of complaints about its harboring a virus, nor has the Geek Squad (a tech support service chain) issued any warning or statement about such an application. Indeed, in a 22 November 2010 blog post, the Geek Squad denied any such action:
A security alert about the Facebook “Christmas Tree” application is circulating online now that states:

"Warning !!!!!!!!!!! Don't use the Christmas Tree App. Be advised it will crash your computer. Geek Squad says it's one of the Worst Trojan Viruses there is and it is spreading quickly. Please repost to friends & let them know !!!"

In actuality, Geek Squad has not officially investigated this particular application, nor have we identified it as the source of any infections in any cases we have supported.
In general, widely circulated Internet-based viruses are typically engineered to perform illicit functions useful to their creators, such as gaining control over other computers, gathering passwords and other personal information, or sending out spam, rather than wantonly crashing or destroying users' computers.

It's a 14-Pound Baby Boy

A Utah mom has been shopping for larger diapers after giving birth to a 14-pound baby boy.
Sara Brandon gave birth to her son, Joel Brandon Jr., or “J.J.,” by cesarean section last May and was shocked by his size, especially since her last ultrasound estimated his weight as closer to 11 pounds.
“When they stuck him on the scale he was 14 pounds even,” Brandon told ABCNews.com. “The doctor said it was the biggest baby he had ever delivered.”
The delivery was a bit different from Brandon’s previous birth experience with  twin girls. Each girl weighed 4 pounds, and together they still weighed 6 pounds less than J.J.
“I had to have two [obstetricians] deliver him instead of one, because they knew he was going to be big,” said Brandon. “They struggled to get him out.”
According to Dr. Robert Barbieri, chief of obstetrics and gynecology at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, J.J. was more likely to be oversize because  Brandon has type 1 diabetes.
“An interesting effect of insulin, if it’s not taken in a sufficient amount,  the glucose remains high, and the baby’s glucose starts to rise,” said Barbieri. “It’s like giving the baby fertilizer and it grows very large.”
Barbieri said approximately one out of 1,000 babies could weigh 11-pounds, and one out of every 100,000  could weigh 14 pounds. A 14-pound baby, he said,  is extremely rare, because usually a doctor will induce labor if a baby appears oversize.
J.J.  spent the first 10 days of his life in the neonatal intensive care unit because of  lung problems, said Brandon. But since he’s left the hospital, he’s thrived.
“He’s very calm, content and giggly. He sits with his sisters all day. He only cries if he’s hungry or tired,” Brandon told ABCNews.com. “He’s an awesome little guy, or big guy.”

Brandon said that J.J. and the now 3-year-old twins can all  wear the same size diaper in spite of the age difference.
Cases of women delivering large babies vaginally appear to be grabbing  headlines in recent years. A 13-pound baby was born vaginally in Germany in July, and a baby weighing nearly 14 pounds was born vaginally to an Iowa woman in 2012.
But these hefty newborns pale in comparison to the baby born to Guinness World Record-holder Anna Bates of Canada. Anna was 7 feet 5.5 inches. In 1879, Bate’s newborn weighed in at a whopping 23 pounds, 12 ounces, and measured in at 30 inches long!

Spent Life Savings On Surgery To Look Like Justin Bieber???

If you thought Justin Bieber had problems, wait til you get a load of this Justin Bieber wannabe. A fledgling songwriter blew his entire life savings on surgeries to look like the Canadian heartthrob … and ummm, it didn't work so well.
Toby Sheldon, 33, has spent the past five years and a whopping $100,000 to try to look like the ‘Beauty and a Beat’ singer.
Gawker reports that Sheldon admitted he was scared of aging, which spawned his attempts to resemble Bieber. And some of those were pretty horrifying. Sheldon, who says proudly that strangers call him “Toby Bieber,” underwent multiple plastic surgeries, injections, and hair transplants to get the teen heartthrob’s signature look. But, one procedure was even more insane than the rest.
Sheldon got “smile surgery” to extend the sides of his mouth. You know, like the Joker in ‘The Dark Knight,’ only performed by a doctor. Creepy! Sheldon insists that the surgery was crucial to achieving Bieber’s “youthful look.” “My smile surgery took more than a month to recover from,” Sheldon said. “And, after my eyelid surgery, I couldn't open my eyes for a week.”
No offense, but after seeing his photos, you'll wish your eyes were shut for a week, too.

Teen With Fetus In Shopping Bag In Victoria's Secret

The results of an autopsy could determine whether two teenage girls are hit with serious charges after one of them was found carrying a dead fetus in a bag while shopping at a Victoria's Secret store in Manhattan.
Police were called to the store Thursday, October 17, 2013, after a security guard on the lookout of shoplifters searched the 17-year-old girls, discovered a strong odor coming from one of their bags and found the fetus.
The girls were arrested on charges of petit larceny and criminal possession of stolen property, police said. The teenager thought to have given birth was hospitalized, and the other was questioned by police.

One of the girls, who has a two-year-old son, told detectives she was carrying the remains because she had delivered a day earlier and didn't know what to do, authorities said. It wasn't clear whether the fetus was alive or dead when delivered.
The medical examiner's office was performing an autopsy on the remains, and more charges could follow depending on the results.
A person who answered the phone at the home of the girl believed to have given birth had no comment. No phone number was available at the address provided by police for the second teenager.

Government Shutdown OVER

Members of the House of Representatives depart after a late-night vote on fiscal legislation to end the government shutdown at the U.S. Capitol in Washington on Oct. 16. The Congress on Wednesday approved an 11th-hour deal to end a partial government shutdown and pull the world's biggest economy back from the brink of a
historic debt default that could have threatened financial calamity.

The federal government blinked back to life Thursday, hours after Congress swerved at the last minute to dodge a threatened economic catastrophe. Hundreds of thousands of furloughed workers were ordered back on the job after 16 days idle.
At the Capitol, where the House voted in the dead of night to end the standoff over the budget, tours — for a clearly frustrated American public — were set to resume, and the visitors center prepared to open its doors.
The U.S. Geological Survey, the people who map mountains and measure earthquakes, posted a simple message on Twitter at sunrise, 16 days after its last tweet: “ … and we're back.”
Tea party conservatives Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, and Sen. Mike Lee, R-Utah, right, walk to a meeting as the Senate prepares to vote on a measure to avert a threatened Treasury default and reopen the government after a partial,
16-day shutdown on Oct. 16.
Barricades came down at national monuments. The Smithsonian museum said it would open again Thursday, but other institutions needed a little more time to get back to business. The gates of the National Zoo will open Friday, the halls of the National Gallery of Art on Saturday.
The zoo’s Panda Cam, which allows admirers to check in on Mei Xiang and her cub, was still blacked out.
The Office of Management and Budget, which oversees the executive branch, posted a notice: “Open. Employees are expected to return for work on their next regularly scheduled work day” — Thursday, for most of them.
The restart came after votes in the Senate, by 81-18, and the House, by 285-144, to end the shutdown and extend the government’s power to borrow money.
President Barack Obama speaks in the briefing room of the White House after the Senate passed the bill to reopen the government on Wednesday.
President Barack Obama said between the votes: “We'll begin reopening our government immediately and we can begin to lift this cloud of uncertainty from our businesses and the American people.”
Independent economists and the treasury secretary had warned that, at an undetermined point as early as Thursday, the government was at risk of running out of money and defaulting on its bond payments.
World investors hold more than $12 trillion in American government debt and were watching the deadline closely. The stock market staged a big rally Wednesday after it became apparent that a deal was in the works in Washington.

Michael Douglas Comes Clean About "Throat" Cancer

Michael Douglas is coming clean.

On October 10, 2013, in an interview with Samuel L. Jackson on the U.K. talk show "This Morning", the 69-year-old admitted that the type of cancer he battled in 2010 was not stage four throat cancer.  He was actually diagnosed with tongue cancer.
"This was right before I had to go on a big tour for 'Wall Street,' so we kind of said, 'There’s no way we can cancel the tour and say we don’t feel well,'" he explained. "So you know, I said, 'You've just got to come out and just tell them I've got cancer and that’s that.'"
Douglas revealed his diagnosis in August 2010, but decided to keep his tongue cancer a secret after his doctor, who'd found a walnut-size tumor at the base of his tongue, revealed the surgery could impact his appearance in a major way.

"The surgeon said, 'Let's just say it's throat cancer,'" Douglas said, explaining that the doctor told him that if they had to do surgery for tongue cancer "it's not going to be pretty" and that he faced losing part of his jaw and tongue. So Douglas kept his secret, just in case he had to go under the knife.

The actor, who's currently separated from his wife Catherine Zeta-Jones, underwent aggressive chemotherapy and radiation treatment and was declared tumor-free in January 2011.

Fifty Shades of Grey DROP-OUT!!!

Sorry ladies ... Charlie Hunnam has just dropped out of the big screen adaption of "Fifty Shades of Grey",  and it's all because of his role on "Sons of Anarchy."

According to reports, the decision was made because Hunnam wasn't able to "adequately prepare" for the role due to his "immersive" TV schedule.

Makes sense, since filming was supposed to begin on the movie later this month.  But just days ago, Hunnam was talking up how seriously he had been taking the role.

Ian Somerhalder
, your move!
