Demi Celebrates 21st Birthday By Helping Others

Demetria Devonne "Demi" Lovato is an American singer, songwriter, philanthropist, and actress. She made her debut as child actress in Barney & Friends. In 2008, she came to prominence as a starring cast member in the television film Camp Rock.

The down-to-earth Disney star passed on legal partying and opted to volunteer as she rang in her 21st birthday on August 20, 2013.

She is currently working with Me to We's partner, Free The Children, in the Maasai Mara Region of Kenya. The "X Factor" judge is visiting communities with friends and helping to build a new school through the Free The Children charity.

The Maasai people herd several animals, one of which Demi generously received as a special birthday present!
