Revenge Porn Suit Filed Against Facebook

A Houston woman who says she's the victim of "revenge porn" is suing Facebook and a former friend for $123 million.
Meryam Ali says Adeel Shah Khan set up a fake Facebook page in her name that contained doctored photographs that put her face on "false, phony, naked body shots,” The Wrap reports.
Ali says she found out about the profile in December and asked Facebook to take it down, but the social network failed to act.
It wasn't until months later, when the Houston Police Department subpoenaed Facebook in an effort to identify the creator of the fake account, that the phony page was finally removed, according to The Wrap.
"It's a pretty serious situation," Ali's attorney David Altenbern told Texas Lawyer magazine. "She is obviously very mad about what happened, very upset."
The $123 million figure comes from 10 cents in damages for each of the 1.23 billion members of the social network, The Wrap reported.
In addition, the lawsuit intends to get "Facebook, it's officers, directors, management, employees and subscribers (with media attention) to stand up, take notice and pay attention to the serious privacy violations concerns involved in revenge porn situations," the website reported.
Neither Facebook nor Khan responded to a request for comment from Texas Lawyer.

Facebook 'No Swearing' Campaign ~~ Is It Real?

Claim:   Facebook has instituted a 'no swearing' campaign and threatened to lock the accounts of users who employ profanity.

FALSE

No swearing campaign on facebook

As of march 20, 2014, we at facebook will be launching a "no swearing" campaign. anyone caught using profanity will have their account locked further investigation.

This due to the new laws issued by our legal department (section 182 P34b) as new advertisers have petitioned for a "cleaner" family friendly social network.

If a user continues to use profanity the account will be shut down and a permanent ban will be placed into effect immediately.

Origins:   This message purportedly issued by Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg claims that beginning on 20 March 2014 Facebook will be implementing a 'no swearing' campaign in order to create a "cleaner family friendly network" at the request of advertisers, and that users caught swearing on that social network will have their accounts locked pending further investigation, with repeat offenders having their accounts permanently and immediately shut down.

The message is just a hoax: Facebook has made no announcement nor sent any messages about launching an anti-profanity campaign like the one described here.

Facebook users have access to profanity filters that will block posts containing certain offensive words, and Facebook's Community Standards and Statement of Rights and Responsibilities sets down some guidelines about posts that might be considered hate speech, bullying, or harassment, but Facebook has no (and is not implementing any) general overall ban on swearing.

Not to mention I think Mark Zuckerberg would know how to spell CAMPAIGN!
